ABOUT TARGETS
•ATV’s and 4 wheelers can be ridden downrange to post targets if the shooter has physical issues with walking. No riding outside the roadways.
•Bring your own targets! Please remove paper targets when finished and dispose of them properly. This keeps them from becoming trash in the fence line.
•Absolutely No Shooting Outside Range Limits or anywhere other than established backstops. No targets are permitted beyond the boundaries of the ranges. Anyone placing or firing at a target outside of an established location on the range without prior written authorization will have their membership permanently revoked.
Steel Plate Information
Q-How far away must I be with my 9mm/AR-15/308/30/30 etc.
A-Steel plates must be a minimum of 15yds with any handgun and 100yds with a rifle over 1500fps.
Rifles like 223, 300-win mag, and 22/250 etc. are very fast. Backup to where the speed of the bullet at point of impact is BELOW 3000fps. Speeds approaching 3000fps may result in slight pitting and/or edge chipping that can be eliminated by simply backing up or using heavier, slower ammo. Always, wear eye protection when shooting steel and don’t use steel core ammunition. You may fire 50 BMG, 338 Lapua, 30-378, or Ultra Mags at your own targets, but DO NOT SHOOT 50 BMG, 338 Lapua, 30-378, or Ultra Mags AT OUR STEEL.
Q-Why don’t you paint your targets and what is this weird scale on them? Is there something wrong with them?
A-Many shooters paint their targets after every round of shooting as it helps to see where the bullets have hit. Paint is not bulletproof and is shot off quickly, our cost for painting targets would have to be passed on to our members.
AR500 is a VERY high carbon steel and commonly has (mill scale). If your target has mill scale and/or a bit of surface rust on it, it won’t hurt a thing, as it will need to be painted regardless. Remember, this is a target that will be shot at not a piece of art. The beauty in AR500 is its incredible toughness, not its raw appearance.
