Safety On The Range

Safety

  1. Always keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Always keep your firearm unloaded until you are ready to shoot! Action open, safety on.
  3. Always keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target!
  4. Never handle any firearms while people are downrange. This includes sight adjustments! *****DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FIREARM OR SIT DOWN AT THE BENCH WITH THE FIREARM ON IT WHILE SOMEONE IS DOWN RANGE*****
  5. A safety is a mechanical device that can fail! Always follow the basic rules of gun safety listed above.
  6. When you are bringing your firearm from your vehicle to the firing line, the firearm should be unloaded, action open safety on, pointed in a safe direction. Up or down, never at any person. In a case is even better.
  7. Shoot sober! NO ALCOHOL PERMITED!! Never consume anything that would even mildly impair your judgment or physical coordination when you're using a firearm. If you consume alcohol while shooting at the Gun Range and are caught, we will revoke your membership.
  8. Safety glasses and hearing protection are recommended.
  9. COMMUNICATE! Tell the others around you that you are headed down range. Make sure they acknowledge you!
**WHEN SOMEONE ON THE FIRING LINE IS GOING TO GO DOWN RANGE, THEY NEED TO CLEARLY COMMUNICATE WITH THE OTHERS ON THE FIRING LINE. STATE “I AM GOING TO GO DOWN RANGE.” THE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE FIRING LINE CLEAR THEIR FIREARMS OF ANY AMMUNITION AND SET THEM DOWN ON THE FIRING BENCH, STATE “MY WEAPON IS CLEAR” AND STAND UP AND WAIT FOR THE OTHER MEMBER TO RETURN OR JOIN THEM DOWN RANGE. SAFETY FIRST! COMMUNICATE.
  10. Do not climb on the berms surrounding the ranges. Please keep children off them.
  11. On Gate two, the 600 Yard range, please utilize the warning cone at the range tables when you go down range if you are there alone. This warns others if you are down range if someone should arrive there while you are not at the tables. Just put it on the nearest range table when you go down range. *Please make sure you put the cone on the ground before you leave the range.
