HomeMembership Responsibility

Membership Responsibilities

  1. A membership entitles you and family members living in your household to use the range. Members are responsible for family and guests at the range and will be held responsible for the actions of family members and guests.
  2. Members are allowed up to 3 guests.  Members must accompany their guests at the range. No member is permitted to loan their range key.
  3. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult member.  All children must be kept a safe distance behind the firing line unless they are participating in shooting activities. Do not permit them to handle firearms without supervision.

Restrictions

  1. Don’t crossfire (shooting from bench 1 at a target in front of bench 20) this can be a safety issue!
  2. NO SHOTGUNS! Exception for Law enforcement training. LE agencies are to give us 1 week notice beforehand and train on the Pistol Range. They are to replace the used boards.
  3. Never shoot any glass objects, tracers, armor piercing rounds, exploding targets (Tannerite), etc.
  4. Don’t shoot the trash barrels, outhouse, the signs, or any other structure.
  5. Do not haul trash here to shoot. Stick to paper targets and the steel, or bring your own target stands. There are three Dumpsters. Two in gate one and one in gate two.
  6. ONLY SMALL PIECES OF WOOD IN THE DUMPSTER! No wood can be sticking out of the dumpster. Larger pieces of wood should be placed in the wood pile at gate one. If you can empty a trash barrel into one of the dumpsters, we would greatly appreciate that. If everyone just dumped one a year we would be ahead of the trash.

If you witness someone being unsafe or performing acts of vandalism at the range, contact the Converse County Sheriff @  307-358-4700.

ABOUT LOCKING THE GATEPLEASE LOCK THE GATE BEHIND YOU AFTER YOU ENTER (yes, lock yourself in) AND MAKE CERTAIN IT IS LOCKED WHEN YOU LEAVE.
  • Do not enter the range and leave the gate unchained and unlocked.
  • Do not let someone follow you into the range in their car, they need a key. If you let someone in that does not have a key and you leave, they will be locked in without a way out.
  • If a vehicle pulls up behind you while you are entering the range do not just usher them in. Ask them if they are a member, make sure they have the current key.

ABOUT OUR LOCKS and KEYSThe key will only rotate clockwise a quarter turn.  Make sure you are using the right key for our lock.  Our keys have a letter and a number stamped into them and have a double pinned keyway.

DO NOT LOSE YOUR KEYPlease take great care to keep up with your key and do not lose it. A replacement key will cost you $50. Losing it twice may result in revocation of your membership.

DO NOT TAMPER WITH OR LUBRICATE THE LOCKSIf the lock is frozen and will not turn remove the key and inspect that you are using the right key. If the key is stuck in the lock do not force the key to turn. Do not try and use tools to get the key to turn. Stop and call a board member if there is a problem with a lock.

ABOUT TARGETS

•ATV’s and 4 wheelers can be ridden downrange to post targets if the shooter has physical issues with walking. No riding outside the roadways.

Bring your own targets! Please remove paper targets when finished and dispose of them properly. This keeps them from becoming trash in the fence line.

Absolutely No Shooting Outside Range Limits or anywhere other than established backstops.  No targets are permitted beyond the boundaries of the ranges.  Anyone placing or firing at a target outside of an established location on the range without prior written authorization will have their membership permanently revoked.

Use your own target stand Google “portable target stands” or search YouTube.  You can place these at whatever distance you wish to shoot.

Steel Plate Information

Q-How far away must I be with my 9mm/AR-15/308/30/30 etc.

A-Steel plates must be a minimum of 15yds with any handgun and 100yds with a rifle over 1500fps.

Rifles like 223, 300-win mag, and 22/250 etc. are very fast. Backup to where the speed of the bullet at point of impact is BELOW 3000fps. Speeds approaching 3000fps may result in slight pitting and/or edge chipping that can be eliminated by simply backing up or using heavier, slower ammo. Always, wear eye protection when shooting steel and don’t use steel core ammunition. You may fire 50 BMG, 338 Lapua, 30-378, or Ultra Mags at your own targets, but DO NOT SHOOT 50 BMG, 338 Lapua, 30-378, or Ultra Mags AT OUR STEEL.

Q-Why don’t you paint your targets and what is this weird scale on them? Is there something wrong with them?

A-Many shooters paint their targets after every round of shooting as it helps to see where the bullets have hit. Paint is not bulletproof and is shot off quickly, our cost for painting targets would have to be passed on to our members.

AR500 is a VERY high carbon steel and commonly has (mill scale). If your target has mill scale and/or a bit of surface rust on it, it won’t hurt a thing, as it will need to be painted regardless. Remember, this is a target that will be shot at not a piece of art. The beauty in AR500 is its incredible toughness, not its raw appearance.
